After two tours in Afghanistan, I decided it was time to get myself something nice.
I actually started experimenting with filters during my second tour, I spent most of my time advising Afghan military engineers and not ducking bullets, so I got to embrace my inner shutterbug. The Afghan Army has a ton of these diesel Ford Rangers (I WANT ONE SO BAD) all over the place and I took a picture of this one on a stormy day.
Anyway, I'll put my new Audi S4 out there. It is a sweet car - stick, sport diff, monsoon gray color. I named her Sabine.

Yup! I just took it for a drive to Sugarbush today to do some snowboarding. Car is so sharp on those backroads!
In terms of mods, for now I am going to just stick with cosmetic stuff. I'm not crazy about those wheels, they are going to be my winter wheels. I'll have to think of something for the summer months. Also plan to get some tint done. First thing is first, I am going to get a good detail done with a long-term clear coat protective layer done on it.

Really some slight work on that sky to drop out the fringing and some gamma and exposure correction and these are quite nice car photos. It's probably not HDR just photoshop highlight adjustments, real HDR uses multilayer processing.

I like the HDR mode on my potato, it takes good pictures in darker situations without looking overly HDR.
Also that diesel Ranger, MUCH WANT NAAAOOOWWW!!

Yes, and I would say Sabine is a good name for a Porsche as well. I just figured she is German, the car is German, Sabine is a nice German name, so I went with it :)

I actually spent a lot of time agonizing over what to purchase: nice daily driver sport sedan OR practical small truck daily driver with something stupid/loud/flashy/impractical as a weekender.
Went with this car, love it, but I was very close to buying a used Ford Ranger as a DD. I would have loved one of these Rangers! Little spunky diesel motor with a stick shift, room to seat four, and a bed. Oh, and an awesome camo paint scheme. What else could you want for a daily driver?

I'm a little late, but first of all thanks for the service, and second of all awesome car! My dad recently bought a B5 S4(was looking for a used, cheap, reliable car for me as a first car, but found it and got i for himself. I get to drive the '06 A3 so no complaints here) and I hope you like the new version. Congrats and good choice

Oh and I know the Audi's have a supercharged badge, but I thought the TFSI meant it had a turbo? I think ze germans are trying to confuse me

This Audi as a supercharged engine, many of their other cars are turbocharged.

On the website it lists the engine as a 3.0 TFSI and in specifications it says Supercharged/TFSI under the Induction/Fuel Injection section. They just make it so confusing nowadays. If its supercharged they just need to say supercharged and not throw in the TFSI.
